The Melia Cohiba cigar store is a good place to buy cigarettes and a great place to smoke them. The store is greatly improved in its early days, and has a small but good selection of cigars. There always seems to be some Bolivar, Cohiba and a lot of Montecristo available for single sale within the small triangular humidor cabin.
The Meliá Cohiba is a great hotel, and its cigar shop is located a section from the lobby, just at the end of the escalator and through a pair of double doors. The staff is very friendly, and the store has a beautiful circular screen of ornate ashtrays and precious Cuban rums for sale.
On a recent trip, I chose the Montecristo Doble Edmundo as my first cigar of the day, which cost 9.70 CUC (USD 11.15) each. I lit it in the large main smoking area, which has several tables and a staff that will serve you coffee, beer or liquors from the bar. Sometimes there is live music, and if it gets too loud you can escape to one of the smaller side rooms.
