Description

* Amador Causeway The palm-lined Amador Causeway follows Panama Bay and then heads toward the Bridge of the Americas, which runs parallel to the entrance to the Panama Canal and leads to three small offshore islands. The 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) road includes popular trails for joggers and cyclists and passes a number of landmarks. * Old Town Panama City's oldest and most fashionable neighborhood comprises a cluster of pastel-colored colonial buildings with tiled roofs at the tip of a heavily fortified peninsula. These walls successfully protected the first Spanish settlement on the Pacific coast and today constitute a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with plazas, churches and narrow streets. * Ancon Hill Panoramic views from the highest point in Panama City make Ancon Hill a must-see for many visitors who come to watch the ship traffic passing through the Panama Canal far below. There's much more than just views to this urban park - it's also home to sloths, anteaters and monkeys and is a great escape from the bustling activity of the capital. * Metropolitan Natural Park Right in the heart of Panama City lies a 230-hectare park known as the Metropolitan Natural Park. This nature sanctuary is considered the lung of the capital city, and is the only tropical forest located so close to a metropolitan area in all of Latin America. Despite its proximity to the city, the Park is home to a great deal of biodiversity: some 284 species of flora, including trees that reach up to 35 meters in height; 283 species of birds, 38 types of snakes, 20 amphibians and 45 mammals.
