La Casa del Habano, Partagas

The original Partagás cigar factory is a shadow of what it was, a milestone that crumbles with splinters, paint flakes, a former beauty queen devastated by age. The building that remains the same image of the Cuban cigar industry for many is now empty, and the cigars are no longer crooked here, but the cigar store at its base remains so.

The store, perhaps the most famous in all of Cuba and an attraction for tourists, still attracts a crowd. On a recent Saturday morning, there were a lot of visitors. Unlike most large cigar stores in Havana, cigars are out of reach, behind glass. There were, of course, a lot of Partagás, the traditional Montecristo and Cohiba, which are practically everywhere, and some more strange finds, such as Sancho Panza Belicosos (181.25 CUC) and Romeo and Julieta Cazadores (161.25 CUC). If you are invited to the VIP room in the back, do not refuse. It is a place with history to enjoy a good cigar.
