Hotel Castillo in Las Nubes
Hotel Castillo in Las NubesWriters would probably like to stay here to finish a book.
Writers would probably like to stay here to finish a book. Literally a castle, it sits on top of a hill. Couples like to escape here for a romantic stay. Whether you look out from the terrace or your bedroom window, the view will leave you breathless.
Built in 1940, its former owner wanted a medieval mansion, far from the busy city. Some years ago it was a restaurant and in 2016 it reopened as this unique boutique hotel.
An ascending stretch of highway gets you there, just a few minutes by car from the Soroa Orchid Garden. But some people prefer to walk for one kilometer and a half. The stone exterior and circular tower give it an austere appearance, contrasting with its comfortable interior.
The pool and the restaurant are rather small, but that’s no problem since the hotel only has six rooms. There will never be too many people around and so you can enjoy the peace and quiet, ideal for reading a good book or simply relaxing.

You can also take walks or go horseback riding. And don’t forget to visit Los Manantiales waterfall and the Salto de Soroa. Along the way you will be able to spot some typical Cuban birds.
Of course, you have to visit us, it's always springtime here. The famous, huge Orchid Garden has over 350 species of orchids, with some 20,000 of these lovely flowers. Bringing a camera here is a must. Your pictures are guaranteed to be beautiful.
The hills are part of the Sierra del Rosario, a Biosphere Reserve. Soroa is very tourist-oriented but it still manages to keep its charm and the simplicity of a country village. There are several privately-owned restaurants and cafeterias to allow you to experience the taste and aroma of Cuban cuisine. This community once belonged to the province of Pinar del Río, but since 2010 it is part of Artemisa Province.
The Castillo en las Nubes Hotel is at Km. 8 of the Soroa Highway, in the municipality of Candelaria (Artemisa province). The José Martí International Airport in Havana is 85 kilometers away.
