It is located at 12 Honorato del Castillo Street, in Sancti Spiritus, 75 miles from the historic city of Trinidad, about 360 miles west from Jose Marti International Airport in Havana City.

During the 19th century, the building was the residence of an illustrious medical doctor, Don Rudesindo Garcia Rijo. After a meticulous reconstruction work the building opened its doors on November 18, 2001 transformed into one of the most attractive buildings in the city.
The majestic facade of the Hotel del Rijo is highlighted by several iron bars and a beautiful nailed wooden great hall door, all decorated in celestial blue with marble-like veins. As valuable as the ceiling and carpentry are the mural paintings and sculptures of the overall decoration.
