La Guarida

La Guarida opens its doors on July 14, 1996 in a beautiful palace of the early twentieth century. Nowadays it is a multifamily building, which offers a unique environment where the daily routine of the neighbors is mixed with the tasks of a luxury restaurant.
 
Stage of the Oscar-nominated Cuban film 'Strawberry and Chocolate' and winner of innumerable distinctions, narrated the history of friendship between the homosexual Diego and the young communist David, who marked a before and after in Cuban society, with his great call against intolerance. Visited by famous European Monarchs, Heads of State and Personalities from the world of sports and entertainment at an international level, La Guarida palate represents an icon of Cuban cuisine.
 
This upscale eatery sits on the top floor of a dilapidated building in Habana Centro. Dine on contemporary Cuban-fusion among old film paraphernalia in its three opulent rooms.
 
Well, if it's good enough for Sting, Jack Nicholson and Prince Albert of Monaco… This is the granddaddy of Havana’s palates, going strong for 75 years yet still fully booked most nights. The city views alone make it worth a visit, but luckily signature dishes such as papaya lasagna, suckling pig and chocolate fondant are equally impressive.
