Description
Begin your tour at Sensoji Temple, also called Asakusa Kannon, the oldest temple in Tokyo. Built in 645, it honors the goddess Kannon, the goddess of mercy in Buddhism. One of the most popular spots for tourists is the area where the large Kaminari-mon lantern is located. Next, head to Ginza, one of the city's main shopping districts, full of luxury boutiques, elegant cocktail bars, and sushi restaurants. The Wako department store dates back to the 1930s and offers high-end jewelry. Continue to Tokyo Station and the surrounding Marunouchi district, which epitomize the contrasts between traditional and modern Japan. The East Gardens of the Imperial Palace are a historic garden within the Tokyo Imperial Palace complex. The gardens were first used by the Tokugawa shogunate. A bridge leads to the Sakashita-mon Gate. Nearby are the Imperial Household Agency building and the Tokyo Imperial Palace. Next, visit Shibuya, a special ward of Tokyo, Japan, located on the Yamanote Line in western Tokyo, slightly south of Shinjuku. Shibuya was founded on March 15, 1947. Continue to Meiji Shrine, located in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, Japan. It is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken. It was founded on November 1, 1920, following the death of Emperor Meiji. Next, visit the Shinjuku district, which ranges from the karaoke bars and nightclubs of the bustling, neon-lit eastern part to the upscale bars and hotel restaurants of the skyscraper district. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building has a popular observation deck. Finally, visit Tokyo Tower, an iconic 333-meter landmark, opened in 1958, inspired by the Eiffel Tower and built as a symbol of Japan's economic resurgence.Includes
