The Aquatics, located on the slopes of a mountain in Cuba, was founded in 1943 by Antonia Izquierdo, who believed in the medicinal and therapeutic properties of water, to which the town owes its name.
The last person who had knowledge about the healing effects of water died in 2002. However, although he did not transfer his legacy, the inhabitants of Los Acuáticos continue to maintain their faith in this tradition.
The excursion to Los Acuáticos is recommended not only from the cultural point of view, but also from the landscape, since the 1 km stretch that covers the distance of the Dos Hermanas exit to the town, has a great diversity of native plant species, perfect framework of the lifestyle and beliefs of the locals.
The complete route consists of 4 km if the usual detour is done along the path after the visit to the town of Los Acuáticos. It can be accessed on foot or on horseback. The most advisable thing is to have the services of a guide.
Ticket price: 10 CUC for a guided circuit of three hours.
