Description

Welcome to our tour of the ancient city of Khiva, where you will immerse yourself in the era of powerful khans, the Great Silk Road, and desert caravans. Our professional licensed guide will take you on a journey to explore the main historical monuments of Khorezm and introduce you to the traditions of the region, which has almost 3,000 years of history. We will start our tour by strolling past the colorful markets and walls of the ancient Ichan-Kala fortress, a unesco World Heritage Site. Our first stop will be the Juma Mosque, one of the most amazing mosques in Uzbekistan. You will be fascinated by its roof, which rests on two hundred wooden columns with elegant ornamental carvings. From the minaret of the Juma mosque, you will have a magical view of the entire historical center of Khiva. Next, we will visit the mausoleum of Pahlavan Mahmud, the hero of Khiva who was elevated to the rank of saints. You will hear the story of the poet and hero whose turquoise dome rises above the fortress of Ichan-Kala. Our final stop will be the most beautiful palace of Khiva, Tash-Khauli. You will see walls, columns, and ceilings covered with patterns, magnificent ganch and marble carvings, and openwork copper gratings worthy of the Khiva khan. Throughout the tour, our guide will tell you about the most striking events in the history of Khiva, without burdening you with countless dates and names. You will learn about the cult of Zoroastrianism, local arts and crafts, and the birthplace of algebra. After the tour, you will have the opportunity to taste dishes of Khorezm cuisine, such as pilaf, tukhum-barak, shivit osh (Khorezm lagman), shish kebabs, and much more. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at a central location to explore more of Khiva's beautiful architecture and fascinating history.
