El Pedraplen
El PedraplénWalk the longest pedestrian in the world and live the unique experience of believing that you are navigating a calm evil
Crossing the pedraplens is an unusual experience. Especially, travel the longest Pedraplén, located in Cuba, which reaches from Caibarién to Cayo Santa María, about 48 kilometers in which you have the feeling of sailing over the sea. When the sea is calm and without waves, the sky is reflected on the surface of the water, giving the impression that the horizon disappears and circulates on a flat world.
It is considered to be the largest pedestrian in the world and with this work, direct access to kilometers of excellent virgin beaches of fine sand and transparent waters is achieved. Among them, Las Brujas Beach, Ensenacho Beach, Las Salinas Beach, Perla Blanca Beach, Santa María Beach and Mégano Beach. The Pedraplén environment is characterized by its lush vegetation and beautiful landscapes.

In order not to affect the flora and fauna of the area, 45 bridges built with concrete and prefabricated were executed. The Pedraplén de Caibarién to Cayo Santa María won the “Puente de Alcántara International Award” in the VII edition, an award aimed at recognizing, within the Latin American sphere, the public work that brings together greater cultural, technological, aesthetic, functional and social importance, having also take into account technical quality and aesthetics.
