The Sabana-Camagüey Archipelago, better known as Jardines del Rey, is one of the many incredible corners that Cuba houses, in its central-eastern part, with some of its most prominent keys.
Jardines del Rey receives its curious name from the colonial era, specifically around 1513 and 1514, when the Spaniards in charge of Don Diego Velázquez named the archipelago in honor of the monarch Fernando El Católico and in contrast to the southern ones, already named then as Gardens of the Queen honoring Queen Elizabeth. In addition, they were even before the scene of pirates and privateers' contests, the place where fishing groups settled and their role since the 1980s has been developing as one of the most powerful tourist reception centers on the island.

This set of a dozen islets, the famous Cuban keys, has the wonderful features that you usually see in the Caribbean postcards, where the transparent blue waters and the fine almost white sands create an idyllic environment. Among those islets, there are some of the most renowned throughout the island, such as Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Romano and Cayo Sabinal, joined by the characteristic pedraplenes.
In all of them, you will find those perfect conditions that you need both to rest and to have fun to the fullest, because you will not lack options to enjoy water sports and activities of the most diverse while admiring the landscape that surrounds you. And it is that the splendid places that the archipelago has are worth contemplating, in which the combination of spectacular vegetation, waters full of treasures such as coral reefs and a rich fauna, largely endemic, where reptiles, exotic birds and beautiful flamingos will not leave you indifferent.
Although to get to any of its keys you can follow the road that seems to float on the sea and that communicates with each other, you can also do it by air, since the archipelago has its own Jardines del Rey International Airport. Thus, in one way or another, you can access this valuable place to discover its natural charms with the certainty that you will live a totally pleasant experience.
