The Great Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso, headquarters of the Ballet and the National Opera of Cuba, is located in Centro Habana, on the Paseo de Martí, right next to the National Capitol of Cuba. Currently this building forms a large cultural complex with several rooms and is one of the most important cultural institutions in Latin America.
Its building was erected between 1907 and 1914, around the old Tacon Theater (1838), making it the oldest operating theater in the Western Hemisphere.
This building enjoys a striking architecture with a neo-baroque style, ornamented with abundant carvings and stone sculptures. Its main facade is provided with four white marble sculptures that symbolize beneficence, education, music and theater.

Apart from its history and its beautiful architecture, the Grand Theater of Havana enjoys excellent acoustics and magnificent performances are held during the weekends.
This place also hosts important international festivals, such as the Ballet de La Habana and the Lyric Art Festival, La Huella de España Festival and the National Festival of Scenic Oral Narration, among many others.
