The Malecon of Havana
The Malecon of HavanaBe sure to visit Havana's Malecon as you pass through the capital of Cuba
The Malecon is a suggestive seafront about eight kilometers long located in Havana. This huge walk is also one of the most authentic and famous avenues in Cuba. This is one of the meeting points preferred by lovers, poets, troubadours, philosophers and fishermen. Enjoy an especially passionate atmosphere during the sunset, since this is where you can see one of the most beautiful occasions on the island.
It was designed as a small promenade for the middle class in the early 1900s. But it quickly expanded eastward in the following decade, leaving an eclectic architecture that combined the neoclassical styles of the massif with the capricious art nouveau.

Since 1950 the Malecon highway in Havana has a total of six lanes and, currently, this is one of the must-see places if you are passing through Havana. It highlights the richness of its architecture, as it houses innumerable old buildings that are being restored.
During the summer nights it acquires an extraordinary atmosphere thanks to the carnival, where races and customs are mixed with float rides and tireless comparsas. A great party where the traditional sound of drums is mixed with modern salsa and reggaeton songs.
In this place you will find some of the best hotels in Havana, such as the National Hotel, the Riviera or the Meliá-Habana.
