La Güira Park
In the Sierra de Órganos, 5 km west of San Diego de los Baños, framed in the center of a splendid protected site, are the remains of an abandoned and decaying mansion that once responded to the name of Hacienda Cortina, Parque La Güira
José Manuel Cortina, lawyer and diplomat, raised it in the 1920s. Some parts are still preserved in good condition. They form a strange set, mainly due to the mixture of European and Asian cultures, and the presence of medieval elements on its facade. Some of his decorative objects were removed and exhibited in museums in Pinar del Río. Although it was originally conceived with the idea of taking advantage of the landscape and even merging with it, its strange appearance causes astonishment at the first glance.
